ABOUT US

Three years ago, Cheyenne and Cruz Guzman jotted down a dream in a notebook, and it all started at the restaurant where they both worked—Cheyenne as a server and Cruz as a chef. When their relationship blossomed, they came up with a fun idea that they hoped would someday become a reality: a food truck! Over the years, they saved diligently, keeping that dream alive in their hearts.

Last year, that moment finally arrived! Cruz excitedly told Cheyenne he was ready to make a down payment on their custom food truck. While Cheyenne thought they’d be launching a Mexican food truck, inspired by Cruz’s roots and his brother’s restaurant, Cruz had a different vision in mind. He dreamed of serving up mouthwatering chicken wings—crispy, juicy, and drenched in savory sauces that ignite your taste buds with every bite.

Thus, Only Wings was born, bringing together the vibrant flavors of Mexican cuisine with some of the most delicious chicken wings you can imagine. “It was just a wild idea we scribbled down,” Cheyenne said. “And look at us now—we made it happen!”

If you’re in Tucson, you can’t miss the Only Wings truck! It’s a cheerful baby-blue, adorned with fun images of chickens and plates of wings, usually parked outside TraXide Taproom at 402 E. Ninth St. on the weekends. The twinkling lights and mouthwatering aromas draw in the crowd, promising a delicious experience.

As you place your order, you’ll see Cruz in action, expertly frying the wings and adding a sprinkle of cotija cheese on top. But don’t expect your typical Buffalo or garlic parmesan flavors here! Only Wings offers unique sauces you won’t find anywhere else. Think chipotle mango wings topped with fresh mango and a chipotle-pineapple glaze, or al pastor wings drizzled with an elevated adobo sauce and garnished with onions, pineapple, and cilantro. Cruz has crafted each sauce to be thick and flavorful, ensuring every wing is a juicy delight.

And let’s talk about the wings themselves—they're not the tiny, two-bite kind! You’ll get a generous 10-piece order featuring wings that are substantial and satisfying, with a good mix of flats and drumsticks. One standout flavor is the mole poblano wings, smothered in a rich mole sauce topped with sesame seeds, red onions, and queso fresco. Cheyenne can’t get enough of Cruz’s mole—she even admits to making chicken every night for days because it’s just that good!

Speaking of special flavors, Cheyenne had a brilliant idea for an elote wing, inspired by the classic Mexican street snack. Although Cruz was a bit hesitant, they gave it a shot—and it turned out to be their most popular offering! These wings are similar to the elote you’d find from a street vendor, complete with spicy mayo, corn, Tajín, cotija cheese, fresh lime juice, and jalapeños.

Trust me when I say these wings are truly something special! The spicy mayo is incredibly addictive, and when you squeeze fresh lime over them and take a big bite, it’s pure bliss. I found myself going back for more, and even the next day, I was eagerly anticipating lunchtime just to enjoy those flavors again.

What’s even more impressive is that despite being loaded with delicious sauces and toppings, Cruz’s wings stay perfectly crispy. After enjoying a meal at Only Wings, you’ll understand why they’re called that—because they’re bound to be the only wings you’ll ever want again! You can catch Only Wings at TraXide Taproom on Fridays, Saturdays, and every other Thursday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Make sure to check out their Instagram for updates on upcoming events. Enjoy!
